This will be the first Sunday of Advent and we will celebrate communion together. Our theme this year will be "The Child of Promise." We will be looking at how Jesus was the expectation of the hopes of God's people, Israel. And how he has become our hope and greatest expectation today. This will be a rich time together as we consider the promises and actions of God in history that all point so clearly to the coming and birth of Jesus. Be prepared to wonder about the coming of Jesus afresh. This week we will learn some amazing things from the seemingly dry and dusty list of names that are the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1:1-18. What was God up to? Why does this genealogy matter? It's amazing.
