In our Advent series, "The Child of Promise," we will look at the strange story of Joseph taking young Jesus and his mother Mary and fleeing to Egypt. Hosea the prophet said, "Out of Egypt I have called my son." Jesus then came back to Israel out of Egypt. Does that sound familiar? Didn't Jesus' ancestors come out of Egypt long ago. It's like deja vous all over again. Why does this little detail from Jesus' early childhood even matter? Why did Hosea mention it? When we realize why Hosea mentioned it, we will realize why it is so important. God is going to give his people a do over. I'm so glad that God is so liberal in giving us do overs. We can celebrate that kind of God this Advent.
