Childlike
This week we will continue in our series, Come to Me. We see Jesus joyfully protecting and welcoming children. The way they approach him is a model of how people should approach God. But what does that mean when we grow up? The young man who comes to Jesus is the opposite of childlike. His life is all put together. He’s devout and wealthy. He wants to know what else he needs to do. Give it all away. Stop trusting in yourself. Everything you have prevents you from coming to me. It is almost impossible for the rich to come to Jesus. The disciples on the other hand had let go of everything they had to follow Jesus. Their childlike lives will rewarded by their God with eternal life.
