As we continue our series The Way of Jesus, we enter a new section in which Jesus issues some warnings about our religious practices. There can be some things about them that do not please God. Jesus speaks about several practices and how we can go astray. The problem, we do them to be noticed by others. When we do that, our religious activities change from acts of devotion to God to ways we glorify ourselves. Even giving to those in need with generosity can morph into a way we glorify ourselves. Jesus invites us to take a look at our religious practices and examine what's going on in our hearts. It is a deep and subtle challenge.
