PART-TIME YOUTH LEADER
Peabody, Massachusetts
The Church:
West Church is a gospel centered, multi-generational family of believers that is committed to helping disciple young adults in Jesus. We currently have about 25 students (grades 7-12) in our Guys and Girls Growth Groups, led by 6 adult volunteers. We are seeking a leader with gifts to teach students and to organize our existing volunteers. We value faithfulness to God’s Word, loving one another and enabling others to use their gifts in the body.
The Person:
- Someone who has a living faith in the Lord Jesus, is committed to the gospel, is yielded to Him, and has spiritual gifts compatible with the role.
- Someone in agreement with the West Church Statement of Faith and Biblical Purpose Statement.
- Someone willing to become a part of our church family.
- Someone legally permitted to work in the United States.
The Skills:
- They are able to organize, activate, resource and recruit volunteer adult leaders.
- They are able to teach young adults and inspire them with the gospel of Jesus.
- They are able to help West Church reach youth in our community.
- They are able to communicate with and resource parents.
- They are able to manage a budget and communicate plans with the Pastor and the church office.
The Responsibilities:
- Lead the Adult Volunteers
- direct team meetings
- plan the youth calendar, special events, retreats & report to the church office
- report to Pastor monthly
- report to the church annually
- Lead the Youth
- organize the weekly youth meetings-divide and schedule roles-games, snack, worship, teaching
- plan the curriculum with the G3 team
- share in teaching, discipling and equipping the youth
- organize the breakout/discussion groups
- manage communication with parents & students
The Long Term:
The right person may expect to grow into additional responsibilities as the ministry thrives. An applicant who aspires to be a pastor may grow into that role under the mentorship of the Lead Pastor. We have used Lead Them To Jesus: A Handbook for Youth Workers, by Mike McGarry as a foundational guide for our ministry.
The Compensation:
We estimate that this position will take 10-15 hours per week. The salary will range from $13,000-17,000 per year based on abilities, training and experience.
