"Sewing gifts of love in the name of Jesus for those in need around the world."
This ministry gathers together to sew blankets, Gospel aprons and other essential items in the name and love of Jesus for those in desperate need around the world. @GAiN (Global Aid Network) is closely affiliated with Cru (previously known as Campus Crusade for Christ) headed by Josh McDowell and is the humanitarian aide arm of that organization.
Blankets are highly coveted and are used by grateful recipients (many are displaced from their homes who have NOTHING) as coverings to provide warmth, as "roofs" to provide relief from the elements, and as tablecloth-style ground coverings where family members gather together to share meals and fellowship.
Blankets are made by stitchers in all types of creative ways and are then inventoried by GAIN in their Lancaster, Pennsylvania warehouse. They are then distributed to desperately needy people around the world by "regular people" during missions trips year round.
The good news of the Gospel is shared through Gospel aprons which are given to overlooked and unappreciated orphanage workers as love gifts for their thankless hours of love and service to the orphans for whom they care.
Stitchers sew other much needed items during our Saturday sewing sessions as well as at home as they have time and desire. Materials and instruction are happily provided and participants of all sewing levels (including those who would like to help but are not able to sew or stitch!) are WELCOME to attend. During our sewing times together, stitchers enjoy a great time of fun as we fellowship and encourage one another.
GAIN Sewing Ministry meets the second Saturday of the month from 8:30am to 1:00pm unless otherwise agreed upon by the stitchers.
