Sunday School: Children and Youth

At West Church, we believe that Scripture is clear that parents are the primary disciple-makers

in the lives of their children. We desire to partner with parents as they train and disciple their children

in the wisdom and knowledge of God’s character and His gracious plan of salvation through the study of the Bible.

During the school year, Sunday School for children, youth, and adults meet each week from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in designated classrooms throughout the church building.  Nursery is available for children from infancy through age 2.

Psalm 78For the children and youth, Sunday School takes place in same age group classes with teachers and assistants who minister throughout the year by opening the Bible and teaching using curriculum.  Sunday School is a time of learning through song, story, study, and scripture memory that is focused on the Bible, God's Word to us.  This year all classes will be using an age-based curriculum published by Children Desiring God.

Each classroom teacher or assistant is a part of the fellowship here at West Church.  Teachers and assistants meet quarterly for times of training and fellowship and are supported by the Sunday School Coordinator.  The program is overseen by the Christian Education Committee which is chaired by our Associate Pastor, Rick McDonnell.

Registration for Sunday School is at the end of August before or after the worship service.  The first Sunday after Labor Day in September begins our Fall Schedule (Sunday School at 9:00 am, Fellowship 10:00 am and Worship Service at 10:30). Children register for a class according to their age or grade as of September 1st.  They remain in that same class throughout the whole year in Sunday School.

Our fall schedule begins on Sunday, September 11th.
