West Congregational Church, a non-denominational evangelical church with a congregational form of government, is actively seeking to fill our Senior Pastor position. The Senior Pastor’s role is primarily that of preaching and teaching the word of God and shepherding the congregation and the church staff. His focus is to be on leading the congregation into spiritual maturity and equipping them together for the work of ministry as The Body of Christ. PHASE I – Initial Qualification
Phase I is designed to determine which applicants are the best match for the job qualifications and align to our Statement of Faith and Missions Vision Statement. Applicants will be required to submit materials including application, questionnaire, résumé, and letters of reference.
PHASE II – Personal & Deeper
Phase II is designed to allow the Pulpit Committee and the applicants to get to know each other through written and verbal communication. The applicants will be asked to submit additional information, including two sermons for review, a questionnaire, names of specific references to be contacted for a reference check. Applicants will be interviewed by phone or Skype by the Pulpit Committee. Entrance into Phase II is by invitation only.
PHASE III – Interview and Final Selection
Phase III is designed to narrow down the selected applicants to one Senior Pastor Candidate. Each selected applicant will come for a weekend visit to Peabody and spend time in a face-to-face interview with the entire Pulpit Committee that will focus on 6 Core Competencies critical for the new Senior Pastor to possess for the health and growth of West Congregational Church. On Sunday of the weekend visit, the Pulpit Committee will attend a live sermon presented by the selected applicant at a neutral pulpit in the area. Selected applicants will have an opportunity to tour the church, parsonage, and surrounding areas during their visit. Selected applicants will be requested to submit to a background check and provide additional sermons, and potentially additional references before final selection. Entrance into Phase III is by invitation only.
